Grilled Okra

Grilled Okra

A great way to enjoy this southern summer vegetable. If you don’t have a grill you can sauté the okra in a frying pan over medium high heat be careful not to overcook. You could also broil them in the oven again be careful not to overcook them.

You will need:

Wooden Kabob skewers, 2 for every 3 to 4 okra, soaked in water for 10 minutes before grilling.

*Melted butter

**Cajun or blackening season (cayenne pepper, salt, garlic powder, black pepper, onion powder)

Heat grill to a medium heat. Rinse and trim the stem end off the okra but do not cut into the   pod. Dip okra into the melted butter and then into the seasoning mix. Insert 2 of the pre soaked skewers through the okra pods, 3 to 4 okra per set of skewers. Grill 2 to 3 minutes per side. Serve warm from the grill.

*You can use olive oil in place of melted butter.

** Salt and pepper alone works well.
